How it is built

Four elastic bands, each in a different flat colour, that stretch around the girth of a case and hold by tension. Nothing adhesive, nothing to fit, and they come off in a second when the trip is over.

Suits these shells

Hard shell, polycarbonate
Flexes under load and springs back. Takes surface scuffing more than cracking.
Hard shell, ABS
Stiffer and more brittle than polycarbonate. Corners are the usual failure point.
Aluminium frame
A full cover fits badly over the frame lip. Corner and edge guards suit these better.
Soft side, fabric
Absorbs impact but scuffs and tears. Zippers and handles take the strain.
