How it is built
Four inflatable air-column sleeves with four resealable containment bags. The bags go on the outside of the sleeves, so if a bottle does fail the contents stay inside the bag rather than in the case.
Suits these shells
- Hard shell, polycarbonate
- Flexes under load and springs back. Takes surface scuffing more than cracking.
- Hard shell, ABS
- Stiffer and more brittle than polycarbonate. Corners are the usual failure point.
- Aluminium frame
- A full cover fits badly over the frame lip. Corner and edge guards suit these better.
- Soft side, fabric
- Absorbs impact but scuffs and tears. Zippers and handles take the strain.
