How it is built
Four moulded 15 mm foam blocks shaped to sit into the interior corners of a case. They keep packed contents off the corner itself, which is the point where the shell deflects furthest under an impact.
Suits these shells
- Hard shell, polycarbonate
- Flexes under load and springs back. Takes surface scuffing more than cracking.
- Hard shell, ABS
- Stiffer and more brittle than polycarbonate. Corners are the usual failure point.
- Aluminium frame
- A full cover fits badly over the frame lip. Corner and edge guards suit these better.
