How it is built

A three-layer cover: 300D woven outer face, a 4 mm closed-cell EVA core, and a taffeta lining, quilted on a 60 mm grid so the core cannot migrate to the hem. It is noticeably heavier and stiffer than a stretch cover, and it goes on more slowly.

Suits these shells

Hard shell, polycarbonate: Flexes under load and springs back. Takes surface scuffing more than cracking.
Hard shell, ABS: Stiffer and more brittle than polycarbonate. Corners are the usual failure point.
Soft side, fabric: Absorbs impact but scuffs and tears. Zippers and handles take the strain.
