How it is built
The same one-piece stretch construction as the 20, cut for the mid-size checked case. 240 gsm elasticated polyester, elastic hem top and bottom, cut-outs at the wheels and telescopic handle.

- Hard shell, polycarbonate
- Flexes under load and springs back. Takes surface scuffing more than cracking.
- Hard shell, ABS
- Stiffer and more brittle than polycarbonate. Corners are the usual failure point.
- Soft side, fabric
- Absorbs impact but scuffs and tears. Zippers and handles take the strain.

Where those figures come from
- Surface abrasion
- Rotary abrasion on the fabric face under a 9 kPa load, assessed at 5,000 cycles against an unabraded control from the same roll, three samples.
- Water resistance
- Fabric face tested under a spray of water for 2 minutes at 23 °C, then examined for through-wetting. Seams and zipper openings are not sealed and are not covered by this test.
