How it is built

The high-visibility padded cover, the high-visibility strap and a coloured handle wrap. Three separate things all doing the same job from three different angles on the belt.

Suits these shells

Hard shell, polycarbonate
Flexes under load and springs back. Takes surface scuffing more than cracking.
Hard shell, ABS
Stiffer and more brittle than polycarbonate. Corners are the usual failure point.
Soft side, fabric
Absorbs impact but scuffs and tears. Zippers and handles take the strain.

Straight pull on a 50 mm webbing sample at 23 °C on a bench tensile rig, three samples, the lowest value of the three reported. Rated working load, not breaking load.
