How it is built

The full interior kit, a 4 mm padded cover and a 2 m strap. Cushioning for the contents, a layer on the shell and tension around the whole thing — the combination for a case carrying something that does not survive being dropped.

Flexes under load and springs back. Takes surface scuffing more than cracking.
Hard shell, ABS
Stiffer and more brittle than polycarbonate. Corners are the usual failure point.

Measured on the panel centre of the finished cover with a dial thickness gauge at 1 N contact force, five points averaged per sample, three samples.
Corner impact test
Free fall from 1.0 m onto a rigid steel plate, case loaded to 15 kg, impact on the lower shell corner, five repeats per sample, three samples, conducted at 23 °C.
Rated working load
Straight pull on a 50 mm webbing sample at 23 °C on a bench tensile rig, three samples, the lowest value of the three reported. Rated working load, not breaking load.
